Basseterre, St. Kitts – Nevis

The MS Norwegian Getaway cruise ship made its inaugural visit to St. Kitts and Nevis on Sunday, November 08, adding to the significant number of cruise ships already visiting the island.
During a plaque exchange ceremony on-board the ship, Minister of Tourism Honourable Lindsay Grant stated that it was indeed a pleasure to welcome the ship to St. Kitts especially after the inaugural visit of the MS Norwegian Breakaway in April 2013.
“It augers well with our tourism product,” the minister stated. “I believe the synergies between the Norwegian cruise lines and our tourism product speaks well for us in the future.”
The minister mentioned that there will be six calls from the Norwegian Cruise Line including the Norwegian Breakaway and Gem.
“This is really exceptional for us because during this season we are going to break the 1 millionth passenger mark and so this is special to be within this grouping,” he said.
Minister Grant concluded that the Government of National Unity is committed to the tourism product, its development and sustainability. He therefore is appreciative of the cruise line visiting the shores.
