Montpelier Plantation Inn Dining

Montpelier Plantation offers excellent classical cuisine using local and contemporary influences. Their six chefs, three Nevisians and three Europeans, creatively use local produce, fresh lobster and fish to produce outstanding meals.  Led by their British Head Chef, the team consistently achieves a Michelin Star standard.  Montpelier also has the best wine list on the island, including proprietor’s selections from France, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, and the USA.   All of their jams, sorbets, ice creams, and breads are homemade.

Their marmalade is made from the inn’s own fruit, and their honey is a product of the Estate.
The inn’s dining facilities are just as exceptional as their kitchen.   The breakfast room is surrounded by lovely flowers and the faces East to catch the morning light and the cooling breezes.  Lunch is served just outside, on a quiet, shaded terrace and courtyard.  For dinner, guests are seated on the candlelit Western Verandah, amid floodlit palms, the evening sky, and magnificent sea views stretching to the horizon. Service at the Montpelier Plantation is friendly and unhurried.

In the evening, guests are invited to gather in the inn’s Great Room for pre-dinner drinks, which include their highly-esteemed rum specialties.  A midday barbecue at the beach is hosted weekly during the Winter Season and from time to time throughout the remainder of the year.  They will also be happy to provide a packed lunch, with drinks from the bar, in a cooler bag for the beach.

Well if you have made it here, you have made it to one of the most posh places on Nevis.  This is where the late Princess Diana stayed after her separation in January 1993.  The prices rate as some of the highest on Nevis, but if you have the $$$ it is well worth it. I have never had breakfast here, don’t get up that early ya know, but lunch and dinner are superb.  The paintings around the pool are beautiful, not to mention the grounds.  Well worth a look, but dress very properly you know.  As always call ahead to make sure they are open and can seat you as their is ONLY one dinner seating.  Oh and by the way they do a lovely tea complete with scones!
