The Ministry of Sustainable Development is inviting livelihood enterprises/small businesses to apply for Seed Fund Grants.

The grants must be used for the provision of tools, materials, or basic equipment for community members requiring support to put into practice the training received under the livelihood sub-project for new or existing arts and crafts, tour guiding, agro processing enterprises and the like.  Persons who meet the criteria and can provide proof of alternative training can also apply.  The Seed Fund will invest up to EC$10,500 per small business.

These businesses must be located in the Central Forest Reserve (CFR) area which is all lands above the 1,000 feet contour mark and includes the three volcanic ranges and the range of hills in the middle of the island.  As such, communities at the foot of these inclines that would be directly impacted include Old Road, Newton Ground, St. Paul’s, Dieppe Bay, Parsons, Saddlers, Halfway Tree and Middle Island.  Businesses must also be new and/or existing, must create or sustain direct employment and must not negatively impact the environment.

Interested persons can collect application forms from the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Environment, St. Kitts Credit Union Building, Bladen Commercial Development, Basseterre, St. Kitts.  The completed form must be returned to the same Ministry and further information can be obtained by calling 465-2277.
