For Immediate Public Release

The first of several free computer training classes for 12 to 18 year olds is off to good start, said an official from the Department of Technology.

The first training sessions are taking place at the New Town Primary School, where 10 persons are engaged in keyboarding, the effective use of word processing software, and the use of the Internet as a research tool. The age group was selected because of the potential in such individuals for continued development in the use of technology and computer software.

The classes have been organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Embassy of the Republic of China, and are being conducted by Mr. Jenn Tang of the National Taipei College of Business in Taiwan. The IT official also explained that the training is part of the wider ICT Strategy development focus on human resources, and also is a component of the ICT Center that is currently under construction.

Other training sessions will be held in Verchilds, Old Road, St. Paul’s and Cayon.
