Five more nationals have made St. Kitts and Nevis proud by maintaining the outstanding academic record set by previous students who graduated from the Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas.

Anester Mulraine, Aisha Howell, Deandra Carey and Tiffany Liburd of St. Kitts; as well as Frank Jeffers of Nevis all earned degrees at the Commencement Ceremony which took place Saturday, December 12, 2009.

Both Ms. Mulraine and Ms. Howell attained Masters degrees after having earned their first degree at Midwestern University.  The former now has a Master of Arts in Counselling while the latter has her Masters in Education in curriculum and development and teacher leadership.  Deandra Carey has a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice, while Tiffany Liburd and Frank Jeffers both have a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

“Caribbean students continue to be our academic jewels,” said Midwestern State University Vice President Dr. Robert Clark.  “Despite the phenomenal growth of the university in the past 15 years, we continue to hold the Caribbean programme as one of our high points.”

The five recent graduates were among 15 from the Caribbean and over 400 in the university to earn degrees.  Since 1995, over 70 of the Federation’s students have earned degrees from Midwestern and 80 are currently enrolled.  As an introduction to the university outreach programme, graduates resident in the Federation will be conducting a seminar for prospective students in December in both St. Kitts and Nevis.

Midwestern will accept 20 new students from St. Kitts and Nevis in the August 2010 school year.  They will joint almost 1,000 individuals who have been recruited in the 16 year history of the programme.
