St. Kitts – Nevis makes a bid this weekend for the prestigious title of Miss Caribbean World in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
20-year-old, Fatisha Imo, who is currently pursuing a double major in Accounting and Spanish at the Mid-Western State University in Texas, will compete in the 5th annual event on Saturday March 27th, 2010 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex.
After accepting a monetary contribution from St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, who wished her success in the pageant, Miss Imo said she and her fellow contestants will make several appearances in Swim Suit, Talent, Costume, Evening Wear, Interview and a Question and Answer segment.
“My talent is entitled “Are you listening” and depicts the things that affect this world ““ drugs, gangs, etc,” said Ms. Imo, who also thanked her Parliamentary Representative, Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin for his financial assistance.
She disclosed that her costume is entitled “Jewelled Poinciana Queen.”
Ms. Imo is no stranger to the stage having placed first ruunner-up in the Ms. National Carnival Queen Pageant 2007/2008 and third runner-up in the Ms. Caribbean Culture Queen Pageant.
Participants are also expected from Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Margarita Island, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, USA, USVI and Venezuela.
According to BVI Online, several of the contestants arrived in the territory last Saturday.
Last year 18 countries competed in the pageant with Miss Dominica’s Marah Walter capturing the title.
Since the ladies arrived on Saturday they have been getting non-stop fun. On Sunday, the Premier, Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal held a reception for them at Marias By the Sea; they toured Virgin Gorda on Monday, and on Tuesday they had a live interview on JTV.
On Wednesday, the young ladies toured Tortola then participate in the Queen’s Baton Relay activity at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
On Thursday they are scheduled to attend the high school athletics meet, swim with the dolphins and visit the UP Cineplex. A motorcade will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. followed by a reception held by the Governor where the personal interview will be done.
On Saturday morning, the beauties are scheduled to appear on ZBVI radio’s Teen Talk programme.
