Bank Of Nevis Appoints New GM

The Chairman and Board of Directors of The Bank of Nevis Ltd., is pleased to announce the appointment of Andral “Jack” Shirley as its general manager with effect from 8 Jan., 2007.

Shirley, a Jamaican national is a career banker with over 40 years experience in all areas of commercial banking covering retail, private and corporate operations, with extensive training locally and internationally.

He started his career in Barclays Bank DCO (later named N.C.B Jamaica Limited) moving through the ranks to the position of senior assistant general manager and manager of its main branch with a customer base of over 150,000 and a complement of 150 staff. There he and his team earned numerous performance awards.

In 2001, he opted for early retirement from NCB Jamaica Ltd., to take up a three-year assignment at First Global Bank Limited (Jamaica) as managing director. There he earned the moniker “Mr. Compliance”.On successful completion of his tour of duty at First Global Bank Ltd. at the end of 2003, he was engaged contractually by Jamaica Money Market Brokers Ltd. in January 2004 to undertake a due diligence exercise on Intercommercial Bank Limited in Trinidad, prior to Jamaica Money Market Broker’s acquisition of a 50 per cent shareholding.

On conclusion of this exercise, he was subsequently retained as its managing director on an 18-month assignment which ended in December 2005. Shirley also served as deputy chairman of the Jamaica Institute of Bankers, Treasurer of the Bankers Association of Trinidad &Tobago, a council member of the Jamaican Institute of Management and an Executive Committee member of the Caribbean Association of Indigenous Banks, where in 2005 he was presented the Excellence Award for distinguished service rendered to the Association (CAIB).

In his home country, Shirley was an active member in the community and held several directorships in civic, quasi-government and charitable organisations such as the Rotary Club where he was a past president of his club, St. Andrew North.

In his adopted country of residence, USA, he is a licensed mortgage broker, and notary public for the state of Florida.

Shirley is married to Audrey, the father of three grown children.
