Premier Congratulates Nevis 20/20 Cricket Team

The Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry congratulated the Nevis 20/20 Cricket team, coach Stuart Williams and manager Derek Parry for their performance against Jamaica last Saturday at the Stanford 20/20 Cricket tournament in Antigua. Mr. Parry commended the team Wednesday morning on Choice FM’s popular radio program, “Sports Rap” hosted by Malcolm George.

While on the program, Premier Parry also thanked the former test players: Elquemedo Willett, Keith Arthurton, Carly Tuckett, and two of our greatest Cricketing heroes from Nevis, Mr. Livingston Sargeant and Livingston Lawrence.

“I must thank all the former test players who took time out of their busy schedule to come to gather in Antigua for this great occasion and show support for their country and their team. These men have helped put Nevis on the Cricket stage for the world to see.”

Nevisians throughout the island and overseas have congratulated Premier Parry for his great foresight of bringing these great Nevisian cricket hero’s together.

The Premier also thanked Miss Shenicia Demming, the reigning Miss Cultrama Queen, representing Nevis’ biggest summer festival, Culturama. 

Mr. Parry articulated, “Cricket has sold Nevis and over the years our former test players have acted as our ambassadors. Time and time again it has been shown that this avenue can promote our island, as the match was seen in the United States, Great Britain, South Africa, Australia, Asia and other countries.”  

The Nevis Cricket team consisted of Joel Simmonds (Captain), Akito Willett, Carlon Smithen, Daynason Browne, Ian Byron, Jamoy Pemberton, Javien Liburd, Joseph Williams, Jurnell Turner, Kejell Tyson, Marvin Hamilton, Nelson Boland, Sherwin Woodley, Tonito Willett and Trevier Smithen.
