Reigning Road March Champions the sweetest band in the world, The Small Axe Band and the Caribbean’s new hot soca group, d’Vybz Band in addition to the up and coming young , talented Lights Out Band will all this year combine their musical skills to host what is no doubt the most anticipated and largest event for the carnival season , the Night of Stars NewYear’s Eve Ball.
According to organisers, the spectacular gala evening is being dubbed, “Night of the Stars 2 “”¦”¦ “A Red Carpet Gala Affair”. The gala event will feature two of the regions top DJs and radio personalities in “Magic Fingers” Ronnie Rascal and Leslie “Sugar Bowl Kid” Morton.
The setting for the grand gala event will be the stunningly beautiful and luxurious Bird Rock Beach Hotel’s Diana’s Terrace and will be staged on Sunday 31st December”¦Old Year’s Night, from 10:00PM.A spokesperson for the event said that hundreds of visitors and residents will once again have an added attraction that will provide a very formal setting for everyone who is keen on bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the birth of a brand new 2008. This will be a ball that will cater for all groups, in a setting that will appeal to fans of all backgrounds.
Organizers are promising an evening of absolute elegance and style and one that will greatly enhance the activities that are being held for the holiday season.
The event will be enhanced with many added attractions including a Red Carpet entrance with photos by Mystique Photo Studio and television coverage by ZIZ Broadcasting. Other attractions include Free Champaign and ball favors as well many door prizes and prizes for best dressed male, female and couple.
The line-up will see Sugar Bowl kicking off the event and bringing in the New Year. The popular radio personality will be followed by the Lights Out Band then local entertainment industry icon “Magic Fingers “DJ Ronnie Rascal. Rascal will be followed by d’Vybz Band and then the Small Axe Band will be the climax of the massive event.
This is just one of many collaborative efforts that have been put on for the the last two Christmas/Carnival seasons between d’Vybz Band and the Small Axe Band. Last carnival both bands staged a series of memorable events at various venues including Sprat Net and Club Kactus where 1000’s turned out to enjoy the sweet music of both bands. The inaugural “Night Of Stars event last year at the Angelus Resort was a massively resounding success drawing the largest crowd to any old years ball in recent times. This years edition of the gala affair will easily double the attendance of last years event with the addition of yet another band and the many added attractions that will be introduced.
Meanwhile CDs for both Small Axe and d’Vybz as well as Lights Out are currently on sale on Fort Street and according to reports, the demand has been overwhelming.
