Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Miguel Tsao is of the view that lucrative business opportunities can be created following a successful trade show by Taiwanese businessmen located in Florida.
“The win-win achievement will be in our grasp,” said Ambassador Tsao during the formal opening of the two-day affair.
He noted that since the establishment of a diplomatic relationship between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and St. Kitts and Nevis 28 years ago, “our bilateral cooperation has been realized many rewarding results in areas such as Agriculture, Information Communications Technology and Infrastructure. Additionally, the friendship between our two peoples has grown closer over the years.”
“Building on this solid foundation, we can and must do more,” said Ambassador Tsao, who added that one ideal and desirable area of cooperation to be found is in Trade.
“Both Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis are countries that depend heavily on international trade. It makes a great deal of sense that Taiwanese businessmen join forces with St. Kitts and Nevis’ counterparts to bring the benefits of the free flow of goods and services to both peoples,” said the top Taiwan diplomat.
“Taiwan is the world number 2 producer of Information technology products; 90 % of the worlds laptops are manufactured by Taiwanese companies; Taiwan ranks as the 4th best investment destination and 6th most green-energy competitive country in the world. For those who adore flowers while sipping a cup of afternoon tea, Taiwan produces over 50% of the world’s butterfly orchids; and for those who enjoy a bit of cycling with family on weekends, Taiwan is the home of the famous high-tech bicycle maker, Giant,” said Ambassador Tsao.
Noting that St. Kitts and Nevis is regarded as one of the world’s top tourism destinations, “for a country with a population of slightly about 50,000, attracts more than half a million (cruise) tourists every year—-that is really marvelous.
“More importantly, this Federation is blessed with a stable political environment. We all know how essential a stable political environment and good leadership is to a business if it is to thrive, make profits and create jobs. Likewise, Taiwan is an ideal springboard on which St. Kitts and Nevis businesses can tap into the wider China and Asian markets,” said Ambasador Tsao, who recentky took up his assignment in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“Confucious said: “smart people like water, wise people love mountains.” When I was Counsel General in Miami, I enjoyed a lot of the beautiful beaches in Miami happily thinking I am a smart man. Since I took up my appointment as Ambassador here, I began to enjoy the water and mountain, so I am proud to tell you that I am not only smart but wise like all Kittitians and Nevisians, we are more than blessed living surrounded by the sea and mountains. It is a must to learn the following famous Kittitian and Nevisian saying “It must be in the water, it must be in the food, whenever I am in St. Kitts and Nevis, I’m always feeling good.”
