“…..Nevis would have seceded a long time ago from St. Kitts”

Leader of the Opposition in the Federal National Assembly, Hon. Mark Brantley is said to be a staunch and unrepentant secessionist.
So states former Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms. Marcella Liburd, who disclosed that the Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM), Mr. Lindsay Grant and his Deputy Political Leader, Hon. Shawn Richards, have visited Nevis “trying to woo Mark Brantley, because they believe that something is going to happen in the elections and so they are offering Brantley to be Prime Minister.”
“Brantley is a staunch, unrepentant secessionist. Left to Mark Brantley, Nevis would have seceded a long time ago from St. Kitts,” said Liburd, an attorney at law and the lone female candidate in next year’s general elections.
Speaking at a political meeting of the ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party in Upper Cayon earlier this week, Ms. Liburd said if Mr. Brantley has changed his secessionist views he should inform the general public.
“He has publicly come out as a secessionist and has always been for secession of Nevis from St. Kitts and does not want to have anything to do with St. Kitts. Brantley is a secessionist, so why is Lindsay Grant trying to offer Brantley the position of Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, when he knows that Brantley is a secessionist,” asked Ms. Liburd.
