Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba Her Excellency Anna Maria Gonzales has informed that eight new scholarships are available for nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis to study in Cuba.
Ambassador Gonzales said as a result of ongoing friendly relations between the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Cuban Republic, her Government continues its social development thrust through educational strengthening programmes.
One Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Sciences, two in Sports, Physical Education and Recreation and 5 degrees in Medicine are available to interested and qualified individuals in the respective fields of study.
Ambassador Gonzales told SKNIS that applicants must be less than twenty five years of age, be a high school graduate, come from a low income family, hold no criminal record and should neither be pregnant nor HIV Positive.
She stated further that the Human Resource Department of the Government is working closely with her embassy to ensure that the appropriate candidates are chosen. She therefore requested that all submissions and enquiries be directed to that department.
June 1st, 2009 is the deadline for the submission of applications.
