Minister with responsibility for natural resources and the environment in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), Hon Carlisle Powell is inviting the general populace of St. Kitts-Nevis to the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement and Contract with West Indies Power (WIP). The invitation was extended while being a guest on Thursday night’s edition of the Tell Me talk show on Choice Radio 105.3 FM.

The auspicious occasion will take place at the Nevis Netball Complex in Charlestown on Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 at 4:00pm.

Mr. Powell took the opportunity to inform the public that no papers have been signed by him or any other member of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) led Cabinet previously and this will be the first signing of any such documents.

“This landmark occasion is historic and exciting for the island of Nevis as this means that we are taking another step forward to provide clean, inexpensive energy for the residents of Nevis and neighboring islands,” said the Hon. Carlisle Powell.

Mr. Powell added that the geothermal project is intended to transform Nevis from an island with high priced electricity to one of the lowest cost providers in the region which will deliver another incentive for potential investors.

The signing of the geothermal documents will be another example of the NRP led Nevis Island Administration’s investing in Nevis for Nevisians.
