The 78,000-ton passenger cruise line Vision of the Seas, which made an unscheduled call to St. Kitts last week, is to make three additional visits.

The ship was scheduled to go to Guadeloupe but docked at Port Zante as a result of the ongoing strike activity in the French overseas Caribbean Overseas Departments.

Minister of State for Tourism, Sports and Culture, Sen. the Hon. Richard Skerritt has been informed by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCL), Director for Government & Community Relations, Latin America & the Caribbean, Federico Gonzalez-Denton, that with the continuing events currently taking place in Guadeloupe and Martinique, RCI has decided to cancel the remaining visits of the Vision of the Seas there and will instead call at Basseterre, St. Kitts.

Minister Skerritt said the Vision of the Seas will call at St. Kitts on March 4th and 18th and April 4th.

“This decision to relocate to St. Kitts, though under unfortunate circumstances, is a strong indicator of the high regard in which St. Kitts cruise tourism product is now held by RCI,” said Minister Skerritt.

Vision of the Seas visited St. Kitts earlier this month and is one of several ships of the Royal Caribbean Cruise line.

The cruise line’s sister ships, Grandeur of the Seas, made four visits to St. Kitts so far this season – two in November and two in December; Navigator of the Seas made one visit in December and Mariner of the Seas made a visit in January. Vision of the Seas had one additional visit scheduled for April and Explorer of the Seas is to visit in May.
