The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis celebrated a major milestone in its tourism industry with the arrival of JetBlue’s inaugural flight on November 2. The aircraft departed John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York at 9:15 a.m. and landed at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (RLB) at 1:26 p.m., marking the beginning of a new chapter in air travel connectivity for the twin-island nation.

A Warm Caribbean Welcome

A festive ceremony was held at RLB International Airport to welcome the flight and its passengers. Dignitaries, tourism officials, and industry leaders gathered to commemorate the occasion and highlight the importance of this new route for tourism growth and economic development.

Prime Minister the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew expressed his excitement about the partnership with JetBlue, stating, “In embracing JetBlue, we demonstrate our dedication to offering an unparalleled travel experience that surpasses the expectations of our global visitors.”

Strengthening Tourism and Airlift Capacity

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Tivanna Wharton, echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, calling the launch a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to expand airlift and elevate its thriving tourism sector. “This moment marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to increase airlifts and propel our thriving tourism industry towards greater heights,” Wharton said.

Ellison Tommy Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, added that JetBlue’s service will help make St. Kitts and Nevis a year-round destination. “The JetBlue offers a wonderful opportunity for us to increase our stay-over visitors into St. Kitts and Nevis because the goal is to make St. Kitts and Nevis a year-round destination and this flight goes a long way to making that happen,” Thompson explained.

Representing JetBlue (#ad), David Jehn, Vice President of Network Planning and Partnerships, emphasized the airline’s enthusiasm for the new route and its potential to benefit both the company and the Federation. Convenient Flight Schedule

The new JetBlue service offers travelers flexible and convenient options with three weekly flights. The schedule includes:

  • Departing New York (JFK) at 8:29 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, arriving in St. Kitts at 2:14 p.m.
  • Returning from St. Kitts at 3:30 p.m. on the same days, arriving in New York at 7:00 p.m.

This direct connection enhances accessibility for U.S. visitors, making St. Kitts and Nevis even more appealing for vacationers seeking Caribbean warmth, culture, and adventure.
