Charlestown Nevis (December 6, 2006)
The Gingerland Constituency Group, earlier today, contributed to the development of the health sector on the island with the presentation of a number of household items to be used at the Alexandra Hospital.
At a brief ceremony held at the hospital, Advisor of Health in the Nevis Island Administration and leader of the group, Mrs. Pasty Hanley expressed her pleasure in handing over the donation.“We are here together to present 2 fans to the Surgical Unit, 4 pillows to the staff in general and 10 chairs and a microwave to the Medical Unit,” she said to the Assistant Matron, Ms. Eldina Farrell. “We hope that the wards and nurses would appreciate this kind gesture.”
Mrs. Hanley, who was accompanied by other members of the group, observed that, during the same period last year, the group had presented small tokens to the elders in their community and held a party for the children. “This year we taught of coming to the hospital to give this presentation, so we are indeed happy and hope all would enjoy it,” she said.
In response, Ms Farrell noted her pleasure for the timely donation and expressed gratitude on behalf of the hospital administration and staff. “I would like to, on behalf of the Hospital Administrator, the Chief of Staff, the nursing staff and patients of Medical and Surgical Wards, to thank the Gingerland Constituency Group for bringing to us these very valuable items. We would of course put them to good use because they are pillows and fans, things that we use every day,” said Assistant Matron, Ms Farrell.
The Chief of Staff of the Alexandra Hospital, Dr. Cardell Rawlins was also on hand to witness the brief ceremony.
