St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has conveyed the Federation’s congratulations to the Government and People of Palestine on its recent recognition at the United Nations.

St. Kitts and Nevis was among 138 nations voting to recognise the existence of “the state of Palestine on the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967.” There were 9 votes against with 41 abstentions and five no-shows.

“We wish you to convey our congratulations to your Government and People on this recognition,” Prime Minister Douglas told His Excellency Dr. Khairi Aloridi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the State of Palestine in the United Arab Emirates.

Ambassador Aloridi was at the time seated next to Prime Minister Douglas at a dinner at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to launch the Imperial Beach and Gulf Residences at Half Moon in St. Kitts.

The “no” votes were cast by Israel, the United States, Canada, the Czech Republic, tions the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau and Panama.
