Nevis Island Tourism Awards 2007

Charlestown, Nevis
December 14, 2007

The Ministry of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) on Wednesday December 12, 2007, hosted its second annual Tourism Awards Luncheon at the Occasions.  The luncheon was held to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of Nevisian students and to recognize those who participated in the annual tourism awareness contests coordinated by the Ministry throughout the year.

Premier and Minister of Tourism the Hon. Joseph Parry congratulated the over 60 students and said it was meaningful to spend time with the young people of Nevis, to impress upon them the importance of the tourism industry.

“Our brand of tourism is here to stay, it is the leading sector of the economy, it is a means of people obtaining a long term income to support themselves, their families and their ambition. It is a means for the government of Nevis to establish linkages backward and forward to develop this country of Nevis and it is absolutely important that we spend time with the young people of Nevis, inculcating in their minds the importance of tourism, but more so where they could find a niche for themselves in tourism.

PINNEYS BEACH RESORT LIMITED ““ A BRIEF REPORT

By Hon. Dwight C. Cozier LLB (Hons) MP

I promised the Leewards Times Newspaper last week that I would report to the People of Nevis on the status of the ownership of the Pinneys Beach Resort Limited. My promise came after I was contacted by that good newspaper regarding an analysis of the public records of the said company.

The public records to which I refer are accessible to any member of the public and include the company’s constitutional documents as well as all annual returns of the company at each anniversary date.

According to its Certificate of Incorporation, the company was formed on the 11th of December 2003. As the company is private, whatever business transacted throughout the year is the private affair of its shareholders and directors. Such is the privilege of ordinary private Nevis company.

Nevis Island Budget Address 2008

NEVIS ISLAND ADMINISTRATION BUDGET ADDRESS

By The Honourable Joseph Parry, M.N.I.A.

Premier and Minister of Finance

On December 17, 2007

1. Madam President, I beg leave to move the second reading of the bill shortly entitled the Nevis Appropriation (2008) Ordinance 2007.

INTRODUCTION

2. Madam President, I am extremely happy to be able to report to this Honourable House on the stewardship of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) regarding the management of the economic resources of the Nevis Island Administration over the past 18 months. This privilege is very important to me because when the NRP assumed office, there were many detractors who felt that our agenda for social and economic transformation was too ambitious. We were not in any way discouraged by these negative sentiments. Instead, we have forged ahead with The Peoples’ Agenda feeling assured that responsible, honest and dynamic leadership will bring progress to all Nevisians regardless of political persuasion, economic status, or family background.
