Enhancing the small and medium-sized enterprise sector is the underlying purpose of the upcoming Hairdressing Techniques Workshop being coordinated by Government’s National Entrepreneurial Development Division (NEDD).

The second of its kind, the workshop is designed to provide hairdressing entrepreneurs with the tools to upgrade and professionalize their skills.  Sessions will commence on Tuesday, May 10, at Diana’s Beauty Salon, Ponds Extension and will be facilitated by Dr. Carol Williams out of Barbados.  Dr. Williams holds a PhD in Trichology, a branch of medicine that deals with the scientific study of the health of the hair and scalp.

The workshop focuses on Basic Hair Colouring, Permanent Waving, Body Waves and Dry Curls.  The first series of training took place in October 2010 and included the Fundamentals of Hairdressing, Hair Structure, Basic Hair Treatment and Chemical Relaxer Procedure.

This year’s participants will be enlightened on topics including types of colouring processing, cold waves, modern perming chemistry choosing the right perming techniques and wrapping patterns.

This year’s Hairdressing Techniques Workshop is sponsored by NEDD which is a division of the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs; the Caribbean Development Bank; and Caribbean Technological Consulting Services.  The outcome of the training will be certification.

Interested entrepreneurs can call the Ministry of Trade at 467-1203 or 467-1635 for registration.
