A banker, lawyer, former broadcaster and ex soldier were honoured by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth the Second in her New Year’s Honours List on Friday.

Prominent banker and Governor General’s Deputy, Sir Edmund Lawrence was elevated to knighthood. He was awarded a Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George for his services in banking and finance.

Legal luminary, Mr. Charles Wilkin, Q.C, was awarded the Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G) for his services to the Law.

Lieutenant Colonel Norman Williams (retired) received the Member of the Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to National Security while former broadcaster Mr. Goldwin O. Caines becomes a Member of the Excellent Order of the British Empire (M.B.E) for his contribution to public service.

“Our four citizens have  been exemplary in the hard work they have committed to the advancement of our nation and who have all contributed immeasurably to improving the quality of life of our citizens, in their various fields of endeavour,” said St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, who extended words of congratulations.
