St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas met with a group of local small business leaders and entrepreneurs on Tuesday afternoon.
It was a luncheon session on a holiday, which allowed for brainstorming and exchange of ideas between Dr. Douglas and the small business leaders.
Areas of focus during the Emancipation Day Brainstorming included the emerging sectors of the new economy that is being created since the closure of the sugar industry and how government can continue to partner with local entrepreneurs in starting up new business ventures, sustaining existing businesses and expanding present businesses to create new job opportunities for the local workforce.
The discussions centered on the challenges faced by the international global and economic crisis.
Prime Minister Douglas used the opportunity to field several questions and provide adequate answers.
