A Visit Rooted in Heritage
Claxton, who has Nevisian heritage through his father, Charles Claxton, returned to the island in June during his off-season. On June 27, he held a basketball clinic where he met and trained with local students. Observing their enthusiasm and talent, he pledged to help support their athletic growth.
Minister Liburd highlighted the significance of Claxton’s visit during the official sneaker distribution ceremony on October 10:
“For us here in Nevis we are very fortunate that Mr. Claxton, having Nevisian heritage, decided to come back to his roots and come back in a big way. Through his foundation he was able to spend a few days of his off-season here. Based on his observation, he said he wanted to assist some of the young people—and here we are today.”

Minister Liburd extended thanks not only to Nicolas Claxton but also to Charles Claxton, who helped facilitate the donation and played a vital role in making the initiative a success.
