St. Kitts’ Port Zante will remain on Royal Caribbean International Explorer of the Seas itinerary for the winter 2013-14 season.

In making the announcement, Royal Caribbean said Explorer of the Seas said there is a total of 22 sailings on 16 itineraries to eight tropical ports.

Explorer of the Seas will begin with an 11-night Southern Caribbean cruise, departing Nov. 3, 2013, which calls at San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Maarten, Antigua and St. Kitts.

Vacationers also can choose a range of nine- or 10-night itineraries that take guests to three paradisiacal Eastern Caribbean ports, plus Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach destination on the north coast of Haiti.

Eastern Caribbean ports include San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Kitts and Samana in the Dominican Republic.

The 3,840-passenger capacity Explorer of the Seas made a total of six calls during the 2012-2013 cruise ship season.

Other Royal Caribbean International cruise lines visiting during the just concluded high season were the 3,114-passenger Adventure of the Seas with 10 calls; the 5,400 passenger Allure of the Seas with one call; the 2,500 passenger Jewel of the Seas with one call; the 3,840-passenger Navigator of the Seas with 8 calls and the 2,540 passenger Serenade of the Seas with 16 calls.

St. Kitts – Nevis Receives 23K Cruise Ship Tourists

Over 5,000 cruise ship passengers were visiting St. Kitts – Nevis onboard three ships on Wednesday bringing to 22,754 for this week from 10 cruise liners.

The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Eclipse, which arrived from St. Maarten, brought 3,125 passengers and the 2,680-passenger Carnival Miracle had onboard 2,460 passengers. Both docked at Port Zante while the 90-passenger Le Levant had 79 guests onboard.

Most of the 5,664 passengers disembarked and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island wide via the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, buses or taxis as well as to Brimstone Hill, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.

On Tuesday the 2,281-passenger Mein Schiff 2 had on 1,891 passengers; the 2,540-passenger Serenade of Seas brought 2,430 passengers and 1,450 guests were onboard the 1,611-passenger Thomson Dream.

On Monday the 3,100-passenger Ventura arrived with 3,132 passengers; the 2,850-passenger Celebrity Silhouette had on 2,864 passengers and 2,265 passengers were onboard the 2,450-passenger Celebrity Summit.

The 3,597-passenger Azura docked on Sunday with 3,058 passengers.

An estimated 31,000 cruise passengers are expected to visit St. Kitts from 14 ships this week.

SCASPA reports 600,131 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts in 2011 from 305 calls, 84,392 more than the 515,739 cruise passengers in 2010 from 257 calls and 170,752 more passengers than the 429,379 in 2009 from 219 calls.

St. Kitts – Nevis Received Over 600,000 Cruise Passengers In 2011

Just over 600,000 cruise ship passengers visited St. Kitts – Nevis in 2011.

This is according to statistics from the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA).

Miss Beverly Harris, Chief Statistician in the Ministry of Sustainable Development said cruise ship passengers pumped an estimated EC$30.1 million in the St. Kitts and Nevis economy in 2011.

SCASPA reports 600,131 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts in 2011 from 305 calls, 84,392 more than the 515,739 cruise passengers in 2010 from 257 calls and 170,752 more passengers than the 429,379 in 2009 from 219 calls.

Carnival Cruise Line brought the most passengers – 194,516 in 2011 with the Carnival Victory accounting for 163,550 and the Carnival Miracle with 27,789 passengers.

Royal Caribbean International brought a total of 109,774 cruise passengers in 2011 with the Serenade of the Seas leading the six other sister ships accounting for 61,882 passengers.

Celebrity Cruise Lines brought 109,774 passengers with Celebrity Summit leading the seven sister ships with 29,853 passengers and the Celebrity Eclipse with 29,336 passengers over the 12 month period last year.

In 2011, the three ships of Princess Cruises brought 56,315 passengers. Emerald Princess accounted for 30,942 passengers from 10 calls.

Most passengers visited in December of last year with a record 102,674 passengers, 13,533 more than the 89,141 in December 2010 and 10,134 more than the 92,540 passengers in 2009.
